RCMA BOD Interview with Will Lorenz

RCMA BOD Interview with Will Lorenz

President of General Coatings Manufacturing Corp.

What is your industry background?
I have been involved with diverse Polyurethanes technologies for 38 years starting with Mobay Corp & ICI polyurethanes.

Today, GCMC makes spray foam systems for roofing, insulation, and OEM, as well as acrylic, silicone and urethane roof coatings.

I got into Roofing in 1998 with Resin Tech, part of Henry Corporation, as Sales Manager selling spray foam systems. I was mentored on the job at RTC by Don Lenaker and Glenn Rucker on spray process, equipment and specs. I learned building codes & design details in roofing from a valued roof consultant, Gary Weaver.

I have a BA in Chemistry from The College of Wooster and MBA from UCI (University of California Irvine).

Why is it important to serve on the RCMA Board of Directors?
I saw early on the importance to education, defending and growing my firms' roof coatings business & overall industry. Serving on RCMA's BOD allowed me the opportunity to learn from exceptional coating leaders like Greg Johnson, John Stubblefield, Joe Sorrentino, and Jeff Blank.

I hope my contribution builds on the foundation that others accomplished at RCMA.

Further, my BOD participation has helped me go from just developing my skills into aiding and coaching new GCMC employees and RCMA members.

What value does RCMA bring to the industry?
One strong voice for best practices and safe use, while educating key stakeholders on the outstanding benefits of renewable & sustainable roof coating products.

What do you like to do when you’re not immersed in roof coatings?
I am actively involved in my Catholic faith with my wife, Nicole, love snuggling with my dog (Mack), going to air shows & museums, and sharing good wine & tasty scotch with close friends.
