RCMA Project of the Year Judges Announced

RCMA is proud to announce the distinguished panel of judges for our inaugural Project of the Year Award.

This landmark initiative celebrates excellence and innovation in the roof coatings industry, and the integrity of the award is underscored by the selection of three highly respected judges from outside the RCMA membership. These esteemed professionals were chosen for their deep industry expertise, commitment to advancing roofing technologies, and the lasting impact they’ve made across the roofing and roof coatings landscape. Their independent perspectives and proven leadership ensure a rigorous and thoughtful evaluation of this year’s outstanding project submissions.

John T. Hull, President - Gulf Coast Infrared

John T. Hull, RRO has 25+ years in the roofing, waterproofing, and coatings industries. He is a recognized authority on building envelope inspections and assessments, roof restoration, quality assurance, roof asset management, reroof assessments, and roof restoration scope of work and specification development. Specialties include moisture detection within the roof and building envelope as well as roof condition assessments. Mr. Hull has provided technical support, training, and consulting in over 30 Countries. He is an Internationally recognized speaker having delivered technical presentations throughout all the America’s, Europe, and Australia. His expertise in roof and building envelope restoration has contributed to projects at NFL stadiums, airports, universities, hospitals, military bases and even the White House.

Emily Lorenz, Codes & Standards Advisor - IIBEC

Emily Lorenz, PE, FACI, serves as the Codes & Standards Advisor at the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC), where she leads the organization’s engagement with building codes and regulatory development. In her capacity as Senior Director of Technical Services, Lorenz represented IIBEC on the Commercial Energy Code Consensus Committee for the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and is a voting member of ASHRAE’s 90.1 Envelope Subcommittee since July 2022.

Earlier in her career, she led sustainability and publications at the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute and consulted independently on building enclosure issues. She holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in structural engineering from Michigan Technological University. Lorenz has also served as editor‑in‑chief of the PCI Journal and contributes content to IIBEC Interface, reflecting her strong editorial and technical communication skills.

Frank Klink, Board Secretary - CRRC

After earning his PhD in chemical engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1985, Frank Klink spent 34 years at 3M in a variety of businesses in both R&D and operations roles. From 2004 until retiring in 2019 he served as Division Laboratory Director of the Industrial Mineral Products Division (IMPD). During this period, IMPD commercialized numerous new products including the first cool roofing granules enabling cool asphalt shingles, highly reflective granules for commercial roofing, and Smog-Reducing Granules, the latter recognized by Time Magazine as one of the 50 Best Inventions of 2018.

In retirement Frank has stayed active with the CRRC, where he recently chaired the Education Committee and currently serves as Secretary on their Board of Directors. In addition to the CRRC, Frank has also been active with Climate Resolve’s Shine On Initiative, where he currently serves as the Technical Working Group Lead seeking to harness the power of the marketplace to reward property owners for making sustainable choices by developing methodologies to qualify their cool surface projects for the voluntary carbon markets.
